Metadata is sometimes available as a JSON string (JavaScript Object Notation). The advantage is that it is small and light-weight way of representing metadata. The disadvantage is that the information in a JSON string is not browsable and searchable as is the case for XML-formatted metadata.
Note: In Switch 2022 Spring we added native JSON support and a new JSON Pickup app that is able to transform any incoming JSON file into a JSON or XML dataset.
This new default app is free for every customer who upgrades to 2022 Spring and has the Metadata module.
Very helpful if receiving JSON data f.e. over Webhooks and use that data in further modules. Works fine!
