This app allows you to scan a folder hierarchy and find a file or folder, also when you don’t know the complete name of that file or folder. You can use the ? and * wildcards (1 or many characters) in the name of the file or folder to be found, in addition to Switch variables. You can also use regular expressions.
When there is only one result found, the found path will be saved as private data and dataset, and you can optionally set the job hierarchy to the found folder (or parent folder in case of a file). When there are multiple results found, the results will be saved as a dataset.
Needed to check if a file already exists in a folder and do something different depending whether it does or not. This does exactly that and works as expected.
I was looking to find a way of reading a node in an XML file - the imposition template to use in a job - and check whether that template exists on our Preps server or not. If it does, do nothing, if is does not then let people know. This little app did it in an instant and was extremely easy to set-up. I hope it stays as it is now built into my main flux.
An easy to use feature with great possibilities.
You can filter by regular expressions which makes it easy to find files in complicated structures. Also very good in terms of performance.
