Setting up communication

When you purchase the SwitchClient module, you will able to use five concurrent licenses of SwitchClient. When you need additional licenses, you can either purchase a single license or a set of five licenses.

To enable Switch to handle connections with SwitchClient copies (running on the same computer or on another computer in the network), the system administrator should properly configure the Switch preferences and settings discussed in this topic.

Note: Switch can support up to five SwitchClient connections. The number of licenses (i.e. simultaneous connections) can be raised by entering a new activation key in Switch which is the same procedure as licensing a new Switch.

In SwitchClient users can submit jobs and metadata describing this job. Switch supports usage of this metadata information to make automated routing decisions or providing variable input to various tools and configurators. Also, Switch offers tools to pick-up metadata from sources other than SwitchClient and tools to export metadata and create reports.

An active SwitchClient module allows you to access the following flow elements:

In the absence of an active SwitchClient module, the above flow elements will not be available and you will not be able to use any SwitchClient to connect to the Switch application.
